Composting Grubs

The Alaska Humisoil is hard to come by in the Philippines, though we do use a small amount. As an alternative I have been experimenting with specially treated vermicompost as the BioTea starter. Vermicompost is made using red worms to break down the organic matter and add all the microbial life.

However, we are now beginning to use an indigenous type of grub to quickly transform organic matter into the starter for the BioTea. They are almost 4" long and about 1" in diameter -- and very hungry! Testing the BioTea made with grup compost shows that we are getting very good microbial results.

BioTea and Lufer Plants

In the Philippines, lufas are a prized vegetable. Yes, the skeleton of the lufa plant is the one you use in the bath to scrub your back. This picture is of the big fruits that grew on a plant treated with BioTea. That plant set 116 lufas in all.

Using the BioTea we are getting amazing results with corn. This cob has three heads growing on it!

In Transition to Santa Cruz

I am currently in the process of moving to a new apartment closer to Santa Cruz so my internet has been cut off, but should be back online within the next few days.

Yesterday I was interviewed by the number 1 TV station in the Philippines and will be featured this evening on the main news. I will send the URL to that archive as soon as I can so you can watch it online.

So many great things are happening right now it is making my head spin. We are close to 10 distributors right now, scattered around the country and many more potentials from upcoming seminars (5 so far)
A major one will be on Saturday where professors and top business farmers will attend.

I have been presented with an honorary doctorate by the University of the Philippines and will be teaching a new thesis for agriculture later on this year.
